Pastor Tony Evans’s Background and Education
Tony Evans was born on September 10, 1949, in Dallas, Texas. His father, Arthur Evans, was a pastor, and his mother, Evelyn Evans, was a schoolteacher. Evans grew up in a Christian home and attended church regularly. He accepted Christ as his Savior at the age of seven.
Evans attended Crispus Attucks High School in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was a star athlete and played basketball and football. After graduating from high school, Evans attended Oakwood College in Huntsville, Alabama, where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in theology. He then went on to earn a Master of Divinity degree from Dallas Theological Seminary.
